According to the World Health Organization, currently, there is no any evidence to prove if pregnant people have a greater chance of getting sick from COVID-19 than the general public nor whether they are more likely to have the serious illness as a result. Based on available information, pregnant people seem to have the same risk as adults who are not pregnant.
However, due to changes in their bodies and immune systems, pregnant women can be badly affected by respiratory infections. It is always important for pregnant people to protect themselves from illnesses.
Mother-to-child transmission of coronavirus during pregnancy is unlikely, but after birth, a newborn is susceptible to person-to-person spread. Always follow proper guidelines to maintain a healthy life during pregnancy. After the childbirth, Protection of the child is very significant. So, always remember to practice proper respiratory hygiene and washing hands before and after touching the child.
